Port Elgin

Port Elgin is a small town along the shores of Lake Huron, located just south of Southampton.

WHAT CAN I DO IN PORT ELGIN?

Port Elgin boasts 3 km of fine sandy beach with a wheelchair-accessible paved walkway and a large harbour for boating adventures.

A major town event is the annual Port Elgin Pumpkinfest and car show in October. Gigantic pumpkins, carnival games, and lots of great food make this a very family-friendly event.

Just south of town, MacGregor Point Provincial Park offers camping, biking, birding, paddling, fishing, hiking, swimming, and winter activities.

Port Elgin and neighbour Southampton are collectively known as Saugeen Shores. The main industries in the area are agriculture (beef and dairy, cattle and hogs, fruit and berries, market gardens), small business, tourism (doubles the population in summer), and the Bruce Power nuclear power station.
